Hi, this is Shannon Kniep with Rigid Constructors on behalf of Expert Village. I want to show you how to tape your joints before you put the compound on. Now tape is very important. I use this netting tape because it expands and contracts well with joints and heating and cooling; they open and close a little which can create cracks in your finished coating. If you use this type of tape, it works really well with the new compound, and sort of acts as a framework to hold your compound so that if there is any expansion, you won t get any cracks in your ceiling; hopefully you won t. You just want to run your tape right down the center of your seam and it s a little bit sticky so it stays on until you get your mud up there. We have all the edges now taped and we can put on the joint compound.
